Common questions
What the tool does, where it is honest about its limits, and how it stays trustworthy for compliance work.
- FAQ
- Who is this for?
- Canadian producers shipping alcohol direct to consumers across provincial borders, especially teams dealing with Alberta, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador workflows.
- Does it cover every province?
- No. The product is intentionally source-gated. Unsupported or unresolved province and category combinations should fail closed rather than guessing.
- Does it automate legal compliance?
- No. It is a calculation tool with source-traced CSV, print, and audit-JSON exports. Authorization, licensing, filing, and legal interpretation remain separate obligations.
- Which provinces are supported first?
- The calculator currently returns AGLC administrative-fee components for Alberta, LCBO mark-up, HST-on-mark-up, and deposit components for in-scope Ontario categories, and NLC mark-up, HST, and deposit components for in-scope Newfoundland and Labrador categories. These are component-limited calculations, not complete remittances or board filings.
- Is the app available in French?
- Yes. The interface, page content, and validation messages are available in both English and French, resolved by URL query, a language cookie, and then the default.
- How is pricing determined?
- The calculator is free and needs no account. Compliance Desk pricing is $990 a year or $99 a month in Canadian dollars, plus GST/HST, but it is not currently available for purchase. The release-scope capabilities shown on the pricing page remain separate from the free calculator, which stays open without an account.
